| Greece | Eptanisa | Corfu | Paleokastritsa Prefix: 0663
Pleokastritsa is
located 25 Km NW of Corfu-city and has a population of about 750. This is the most
picturesque place on the island. You will find small bays, olive groves and on the top of
a pine tree filled hill the Byzantine Monastery with the same name that was founded in
1228.
The islands of Sceloudi and Colovri
are on the entrance of the bay. Legend has it that Colovri was an pirate ship turned to
stone by the Virgin May.
Close to the village Krini is the
13th century Byzantine castle Agellokastro. At the end of the cement road leave your car
and continue on foot. The view from the castle is breathtaking.
